Apple Martin looked positively regal at the 2024 Le Bal des Débutantes, during which she made her official high-society debut.
Apple, the 20-year-old daughter of exes Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, stunned in a blue Valentino gown featuring six dégradé tiers of silk plissé chiffon and cinched with a black bow, according to Vogue. It took creative director Alessandro Michele and his team 750 hours to craft Apple’s gown, which she paired with strappy, blue heels by the brand.
Both of Apple’s famous parents were in attendance at the glamorous occasion on Saturday, November 30, which was held at Paris’ Shangri-La Hotel. Other famous debs this season include Sophia Loren’s granddaughter Lucia Sofia Ponti, Princess Eugenia de Bourbon and Sophie Kodjoe, the daughter of actors Boris Kodjoe and Nicole Ari Parker.
Apple, meanwhile, is the eldest child of Paltrow, 52, and Martin, 47, who also share 18-year-old son Moses. The trio all supported Apple on her big moment, dressed in Valentino looks.
Paltrow and Martin famously “consciously uncoupled” in 2014 but remained focused on coparenting.
“Chris and I committed to putting them first and that’s harder than it looks because some days you really don’t want to be with the person that you are getting divorced from,” Paltrow said on The Drew Barrymore Show in September 2020. “But if you’re committed to having family dinner then you do it. You take a deep breath, and you look the person in the eye, and you remember your pact, and you smile, and you hug and you recommit to this new relationship that you are trying to foster.”
Apple and Moses later went off to college in 2022 and 2024, respectively. (Apple studies at Vanderbilt University, while her younger brother is enrolled at Brown University.)
“It’s been a major transition. I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew it would be hard because Apple and I are so close and were together all the time,” Paltrow exclusively told Us Weekly in October 2022. “But I had no idea. It was like the worst heartbreak I’ve ever [felt]. I felt like the love of my life broke up with me for weeks. It was terrible.”
The Oscar winner added, “Now, I’m getting more used to it and it also helps to see her happy and well-adjusted. That makes a huge difference. And she just came home for October break, so that was good. I’ll see her for Thanksgiving.”
Paltrow and Martin have also moved on since their divorce, finding love with Brad Falchuk and Dakota Johnson, respectively. All parties still get along.
“It took quite some time, but eventually, Gwyneth saw how amazing Dakota treated her kids,” a source exclusively told Us in April. “Seeing her love them with her whole heart really changed the way Gwyneth felt.”
Johnson, 35, for her part, even told Bustle earlier this year that she loves Apple and Moses “like [her] life depends on it” and “with all [her] heart.”
