Indonesian Footballer Dies After Being Struck By Lightning, Video Of Incident Goes Viral
Badung: Indonesian footballer Septain Raharja died on Saturday after he was struck by lightning. The 35-year-old footballer collapsed after he was struck during a friendly match at the Siliwangi Stadium in Bandung, West Java.
As per local news, the footballer was breathing after he was struck by lightning and was rushed to a local hospital, where he died. However, a video capturing this death has gone viral. The footballer was struck around 4:20 pm local time.

The video captures the exact moment the 35-year-old was struck by lightning and collapsed on the field. The remaining players can be seen rushing towards Raharja.
As per an analysis by Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the cloud from which the lightning came from was just 300m above the stadium when it struck the football player.
As per reports, Raharja was competing in a friendly football match between 2 FLO FC Bandung and FBI Subang at the time of the incident. Following his death, several Indonesian teams maintained a moment of silence in his memory.
However, this incident is not the first of its kind. In 2023, a youngster in Bojonegoro, East Java was struck by lightning during the Soeratin U-13 Cup. The boy suffered a cardiac arrest and was taken to the hospital for treatment. He regained consciousness 20 minutes after he was revived.
