Welcome to February star seeds!
The weather is cold, Valentine’s Day is upon us and the impetus to warm our bodies and crush our hearts against the pulse of another is nigh.
Whether you’re looking for love, taking the high road of independence, or hungry for the simple medicine of human touch, we have the light of the tarot to help carry you forward.
In honor of love and other drugs, author and tarot reader Kerry Ward has prepared a tarot spread for each zodiac element using her “Zodiac Love Match Oracle deck,” available here.

Fire signs – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
The Ex, Pause and Reflect, Spiritual Connection
Ward shared that for fire signs, February can feel a bit like a haunting, with exes coming back to mind and/or mattress.
“You may very well experience the return of someone. Maybe things have changed, and they’re worthy of another chance, or perhaps the situation is resurfacing so that you can evaluate how your needs have changed,” she told The Post.
She notes that the Pause and Reflect card is a command for navigating these returns.
“Don’t jump into anything too fast, don’t start typing that message, don’t assume that what you thought was the case or your fault or your loss, actually is,” Ward added.
She recommends examining the past from a different perspective to glean relevant insights.
“A Spiritual Connection is brewing in your realm, a deeper, stronger bond than anything you’ve experienced before, and maybe that option is unlocked by doing some review and analysis of your past loves.”
Earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
Virgo, Unlock New Insight, Uncharted Territory
Ward shared that love is very much a puzzle for earth signs this month, offering the people of the dirt the chance to crack the code and level up.
“Virgo energy is around you, either as a relationship option or admirer, or your own mood. Virgo is ruled by Mercury, the planet of intellect and travel, of movement, idea, and solutions. What are you working on and toward?” asked Ward.
She shared that the key to navigating the new is self-generated insight.
“Put your hand on your heart and ask yourself deep questions, answer spontaneously. If you’re already attached, do this with your partner. Things can be changed when they’re acknowledged. There are desires and truths lurking within that are ready to surface. Ask weird questions,” she advised.
Air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
Leo, Do The Groundwork, Smooth Sailing
Ward notes that air signs are surrounded by heart-forward Leo energy this month.
“Maybe you’re going to fall in love with a Leo, thinking about a Leo ex, or embodying the confidence, passion, sass, and attention-hungry energy of the zodiac’s lion. You want to be seen, admired, and desired — and you are,” she explained.
Ward shared that should air folks decide to pursue a relationship, they must do the groundwork.
“Establish positive patterns in your relationships early on, even and especially about boring things like money, chores, responsibilities, family, or expectations. Build a solid foundation around the cogs of everyday life, and shared, reasonable expectations of each other,” Ward added.
If solidly built, she assures this foundation can lead you toward a prosperous, peaceful period symbolized by the Smooth Sailing card.
“You get each other, want each other, and have ironed out the practicalities so that everyday life flows easily and certainly. You know where you stand. No games. This is how it’s done.”
Water signs – Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Cancer, Heal Heartbreak, Intimate and Independent
“A beautiful era of healing and compassion unfurls in your love life this February,” promises Ward.
She notes that for water signs, the influence of Cancer energy is leading thoughts and actions this month.
“You are fully in tune with your feelings and why they’re emerging, and it leads to intimate, soul-searching dialogue and connection. You feel truly understood, and understand others,” she said.
In accordance with that understanding, the sacred mission of water signs this Valentine’s Day is to heal heartbreak.
“You are merciful, knowing, and wise. You can self-nurture and share this depth of love and forgiveness with others. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather friends and help each other exorcise old ghosts and stories.”
For water folks, the new vision of love is a marriage of intimacy and independence.
“You crave closeness but also recognise your desire for freedom. Getting this balance right is key to happy, harmonious relationships, and you feel you’ve built up the trust and intimacy to do so. Everything feels better, stronger, deeper, and freer.”
