Fans optimistic about Dodgers' chances in NLCS

Dodgers fans think the team has a good shot at making it to the World Series this year.

LOS ANGELES — Game 1 of the National League Championship Series went to the Dodgers with a dominating 9-0 shutout over the New York Mets on Sunday.

The winner of the best-of-seven NLCS heads to the World Series.

Shohei Ohtani turned in his usual standout performance at Dodger Stadium, with one hitch: He was caught stealing for the first time in nearly three months, ending a streak of 36 consecutive successful stolen base attempts.

Ohtani’s RBI single off Kodai Senga had given the Dodgers a 3-0 lead and chased the New York Mets starter. Ohtani added a single in the fourth against David Peterson as a run came home on right fielder Starling Marte’s fielding error, then scored on Freddie Freeman’s single for a 6-0 margin.
