BOGOTÁ — A private plane crashed Saturday in central-eastern Colombia, killing all six people on board, including singer Yeison Jiménez, authorities confirmed.

The aircraft, registered as N325FA, crashed in the Paipa and Duitama area in the department of Boyacá, the Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement. It was headed to Medellín.

All six occupants died, the agency added, saying that Jiménez, 34, was among the victims. The others who lost their lives were the pilot, Captain Hernando Torres, and passengers Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, Jefferson Osorio, and Weisman Mora.

The Boyacá governor’s office issued a statement declaring mourning in the department.

Videos reproduced by Colombian media show the plane taking off while shouts of “the runway is run out” can be heard. Later images show the wreckage of the aircraft in flames. Authorities have not provided details about the circumstances of the incident.

Transportation Minister Fernanda Rojas said on social media that the competent authorities had begun investigations to determine the causes of the accident.

The Civil Aviation Authority added that the Technical Directorate for Accident Investigation had activated the protocol for proceedings, such as the collection of evidence.
