LOS ANGELES () — A suspect fled recklessly at high speeds, drove on the wrong side of the road and almost hit other cars in a desperate attempt to escape police during a chaotic chase through the South Bay Friday evening.
AIR7 was over the pursuit around 7:20 p.m. when the suspect was speeding on the 105 Freeway in the Westchester area.
Roughly 20 minutes later, the driver went over a median and abandoned their sedan in the middle of the road near West 34th Street and Golden Avenue in Long Beach. The driver and a passenger then ran away from the scene.
The male driver was eventually taken into custody after he was found hiding underneath a trailer in the backyard of a home, police said. The female passenger, who police say is a murder suspect, was also taken into custody.
During the chase, the suspect hit speeds surpassing 100 mph and weaved through traffic on freeways and on surface streets.
There were several instances when the driver came close to hitting other cars on the road.
Los Angeles police say the car was possibly wanted in connection with a robbery. The LAPD was the agency involved in the pursuit.
