A dangerous chase that began in Ventura County ended when the suspect crashed into another car in a busy area of Santa Monica and tried to run away from police.
LOS ANGELES () — A dangerous chase that began in Ventura County ended when the suspect crashed into another car in a busy area of Santa Monica and tried to run away from police.
AIR7 was over the chase around 5:45 p.m. as the suspect was speeding on the 405 Freeway. The pursuit began in Simi Valley and went through the San Fernando Valley and into the westside of L.A.
The chase quickly entered Santa Monica, where the suspect rear-ended a car on surface streets. The suspect then abandoned the van and tried to run away, but soon surrendered to police at the Santa Monica Pier.
Law enforcement from Simi Valley was in pursuit of the van.
During the pursuit, the driver sideswiped another car and nearly hit pedestrians.
