Charlize Theron isn’t too interested in reuniting with The Astronaut’s Wife costar Johnny Depp — or so it seemed at Paris Fashion Week.
Theron, 50, and Depp, 62, were both in attendance at the Dior show in Paris on Thursday, October 2. Video from the event appears to show Theron brushing Depp off completely as she greets Brigitte Macron, wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, and Bernard Arnault, the CEO of LVMH.
The clip shared via X the same day shows a smiling Theron leaning in to hug Brigitte, 72, and Arnault, 76. She then moves away without looking at the actor as Depp appears to say something in her direction. Depp then turns to watch as Theron walks away.
Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for Theron and Depp for comment.
Theron and Depp costarred in the 1999 sci-fi thriller The Astronaut’s Wife, but it’s unclear if they kept any kind of friendship in the years that followed.
Many are interpreting Theron’s apparent snub as commentary on Depp’s high-profile trial with ex-wife Amber Heard and the resulting public fallout.
Depp and Heard, 39, were married for two years before they separated in 2017. Heard filed for divorce and requested a temporary restraining order after she accused Depp of domestic violence.
The actor denied Heard’s claims and also sued the U.K. outlet The Sun after an article in the publication described him as a “wife beater” in 2018. Depp ultimately lost the court battle, in which Heard accused him of 14 different instances of abuse.

In October 2020 a judge ruled Heard’s claims were “substantially true.”
Depp took Heard to court in the United States after she wrote a Washington Post op-ed in which she never named him by name. The resulting legal spectacle was broadcast on television and trended on social media throughout the entire run.
The jury ultimately ruled in favor of Depp in June 2022, and a judge awarded the actor $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. Heard, for her part, was awarded $2 million in compensatory damages and no punitive damages.
“The disappointment I feel today is beyond words,” the actress said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. “I’m heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.”
She added: “I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated.”
Heard moved to Spain following the trial, where she is raising her three children. “Amber doesn’t want to raise a child in Hollywood,” a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly in May 2024, adding that the star “never liked the energy” of Los Angeles. “She [thinks] Madrid is a more welcoming place for her. She feels safe and secure, and she’s surrounded by better people where she is.”
Heard is a mother to daughter Oonagh, 4, and twins Agnes and Ocean, who were born in April 2025. She publicly announced the birth of Agnes and Ocean one month later.
“Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget. This year, I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years,” she wrote via Instagram on May 11. “Today, I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang.”
She added: “My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.”
