FONTANA, Calif. () — A brush fire erupted in Fontana on Thanksgiving and quickly spread into Jurupa Valley, prompting an evacuation warning.

The fire was first reported around 5:30 p.m. near Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane in Fontana, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

Fire officials estimated the size of the blaze at 10 acres, but by late Thursday it had grown to about 85 acres after flames expanded into Jurupa Valley. Containment was at 0%.

An evacuation warning was issued in Riverside County for the area north of the 60 Freeway, east of Country Village Road, south of the county line and west of Sierra Avenue.

A care and reception center was set up at the Jurupa Valley High School at 10551 Bellegrave Avenue, by Etiwanda Avenue, according to the fire department.

No injuries were reported. It’s unclear what sparked the fire.
