Attempted suicide call turns into East LA standoff

EAST LOS ANGELES () — Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies swarmed a residential neighborhood in East Los Angeles early Wednesday morning for a standoff.

The incident unfolded in the area of Triggs Street and Downey Road. Details were limited, but authorities said they responded around 2 a.m. for calls of an attempted suicide.

Gunfire could be heard in video captured at the scene, but it’s unclear who fired the shots.

Multiple patrol cars, an armored vehicle and several ambulances were also seen at the scene.
