Additional stars have joined the lineup of Broadway luminaries bringing to life LGBTQ+ stories through show tunes at Broadway Backwards, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Newly added to the starry roster are Tony Award winner Len Cariou (the original Sweeney Todd), Bobby Conte (The Who’s Tommy), Hannah Cruz (Chess), Academy Award winner and Tony nominee Ariana DeBose (Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story), Tony nominee Nancy Dussault (TV’s Too Close for Comfort), Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer), Tony nominee Grey Henson (Elf), Tony nominee Robyn Hurder (SMASH), Tony nominee Lee Roy Reams (The Producers) and legendary Tony and Emmy winner Leslie Uggams.
The star-studded celebration of LGBTQ+ love returns at 8 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Broadway’s Gershwin Theatre.
A few fan-favorite numbers from Broadway Backwards’ rich history are set for special returns to the stage, including “Cell Block Tango,” “One Day More” and additional selections to be revealed at the show.
The new special guests join the previously announced Tony nominee Kate Baldwin (Chicago), Bryan Terrell Clark(Hamilton), Bradley Dean (Chess), Lea DeLaria (POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive), Tony winner Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls), Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Off-Broadway’s Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors), Tony nominee Michael McElroy (Sunday in the Park with George), Tony winner Lauren Patten(Jagged Little Pill), Tony winner Bernadette Peters (Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends), Tony nominee Andrew Rannells(All In: Comedy About Love), Jacob Rienstra and Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof). The evening will also include the uplifting sounds of Tony-honored and Grammy Award-nominated choir Broadway Inspirational Voices.
