There’s no sexual shame in AI’s game.
Freaky fetishes and kooky kinks aren’t just welcomed by artificial intelligence — they’re also being awakened in folks who routinely task chatbots with fulfilling their naughtiest NSFW fantasies, according to new data.
“AI doesn’t push back, it doesn’t challenge you, and it doesn’t require emotional presence,” Michael Salas, lead analyst and licensed therapist with Vantage Point Counseling, explained in the report, noting that robots, unlike people, can embrace some of the most lewd and lusty desires of their human partners without hesitation or discomfort.
“Without shame-based friction, people move into more intense or novel sexual exploration [with AI] far more quickly than they would with a partner,” Salas wrote. “Generative models learn preferences instantly and amplify them. This creates a feedback loop where fantasy expands faster than the user’s ability to regulate or contextualize the experience.”
The analysis, exploring how AI companions are rewiring humans’ most carnal behaviors and desires, examined an August 2025 systematic review of 23 studies from researchers in Singapore. The investigators noted that romantic bots are programmed to “fulfil and satisfy any needs and preferences — from acting as a confidant to engaging in erotic role play.”
“AI can generate endless scenarios, identities or fantasies with no emotional processing required. This removes natural psychological limits that typically regulate sexual exploration,” Salas explained.
The study specialists said that individuals who form romantic bonds with AI companions — such as Replika and Xiaolce — may go further and engage in “sexual experiences with them as a means of exploring intimacy or fulfilling their sexual desires,” noting that it could fulfill various degrees of elevated passion as a “viable substitute” for real-life hook-ups.
“When sexual behavior becomes tied to emotional regulation, especially through a system that has no limits, it changes the way desire develops,” Salas said. “That’s why we’re seeing compulsive patterns show up faster than with traditional sexual content.”
The growing fascination with computerized paramours — prompting a 200% spike in AI companion app sales during the first half of 2025 — has set the stage for the rise of “digital threesomes,” which are expected to be one of the hottest sex trends of 2026.
LoveHoney, a global retailer of erotic products, found that digital threesomes — intimate relationships between two humans and technology — are buzzing among sexually active and adventurous members of each generation.
The insiders revealed that 15% of all adults are already engaging in taboo talks with chatbots, including 25% of Gen Zers and 26% of millennials. A starling 18% of zoomers have even admitted to being on their phones while having sex with their partners, per the study.
But Salas said the biggest concern isn’t the sophisticated tech itself, but how easily it can replace the emotional complexity that people rely on for healthy sexual development.
“When sexual expression becomes detached from real connection, it becomes harder for people to return to relationships that involve vulnerability and repair,” he said. “The risk isn’t that AI will replace human partners. It’s that some people will stop seeking the parts of intimacy that help them grow.”
