15 Freeway in Cajon Pass shut down after chase ends in gunfire

A police chase ended in the Cajon Pass with an aggressive PIT maneuver and sheriff’s deputies opening fire at the suspect.

CAJON PASS, Calif. () — The 15 Freeway in the Cajon Pass is shut down after a chase ended in a deputy-involved shooting Monday night, authorities said.

A pursuit began in the Hesperia area around 8:45 p.m. after a report of an armed robbery at a home, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The chase ended on the southbound 15 Freeway near the 138. That’s when deputies opened fire.

No further information was released.

There is no timetable for the freeway’s reopening.
